I’m Javier Arce, a Barcelona-based designer, developer, and illustrator who loves the web. I’m committed to creating intuitive, sustainable, and responsible digital solutions through my work as a product designer, creative technologist, illustrator, and educator.
My beliefs
- I’m passionate about creating tools, systems, and services that are intuitive, environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and delightful to use.
- I value maintaining and improving existing solutions over constantly creating fleeting, flashy products.
- I refuse to design products that are addictive, manipulative, or exploitative—whether targeting users directly or impacting society at large.
- I value playful experimentation and artistic expression as legitimate ends in themselves, not just as means to commercial success.
-
I believe in Brockett Horne’s words:
“Collaboration is messy, inefficient, infuriating, and the way forward.”
-
And in Kurt Vonnegut’s wisdom:
“Another flaw in the human character is that everybody wants to build and nobody wants to do maintenance.”
- I believe in the power of Open Source, the strength of communities, and the vital importance of fostering and nurturing genuine relationships.
